Having trained and qualified at Thirsk Winton LLP, Adam joined Solomon Taylor and Shaw in March 2021 and focusses exclusively on private client work, finding favour with clients through his friendly and astute approach.

Adam acts for a range of individuals, with a corresponding wide range of needs. He drafts wills that suit the individual and their circumstances – sometimes straightforward, sometimes more complex with trust provisions aimed at dealing with specific issues.

Many of his clients also choose to put in place lasting powers of attorney (LPAs) as an insurance policy for the future, and Adam is highly experienced in preparing these and registering them with the Office of the Public Guardian.

Adam’s approach to probate work and, more generally, the administration of estates reflects sensitivity and efficiency, an approach designed to support clients when they need it most.

Adam has obtained an accreditation with “Solicitors for the Elderly”, recognising that he is well versed in responding to the needs of senior clients. He is also an affiliate member with STEP, the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners. Adam also is proud to regularly support Will Aid – the charity Will writing scheme.

Relevant Experience

  • Successfully obtained a grant of probate ‘on credit’ regarding an estate that was valued in excess of £3m, including preparing supplementary statements of truth to accompany the application to HMRC.

  • Obtained a grant of probate regarding an estate worth more than £10m that comprised mostly of shares and VCT’s and additionally facilitated a bridging loan for the inheritance tax liability.

  • Was successful in a grant of probate application in a matter where the deceased was domiciled in a foreign jurisdiction (Nigeria), who also died intestate.

  • Regularly obtains letters of administration for those who have died without a will.

  • Acting for a client regarding a deputyship order which was an application for property and affairs as well as the discharge of a trustee.
