Tessa is a Partner and Head of our Employment Team. She joined STS in February 2021.
Tessa advises companies and individuals on all aspects of employment law from appointment to dismissal. This includes employment contracts, termination of employment, settlement agreements, sickness absences, redundancy procedures, transfer of undertakings and family friendly policies.
She has handled numerous employment tribunal proceedings involving claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination due to age, sex, disability and race.
Tessa also advises on business immigration issues, in particular, sponsorship licence applications for companies and related immigration advice for individuals.
Tessa writes regular updates and articles on employment and immigration law. Publications include articles in the Guardian online, People Management and New Law Journal. Media work includes regular interviews on Resonance FM (the Workplace).
Tessa has:
Handled complex employment tribunal proceedings involving a vexatious litigant.
Advised on the TUPE aspects of outsourcing for a national arts organisation.
Advised an individual on his employment termination involving disability discrimination, long term sickness absence, PHI insurance, medical reports and settlement agreement.
Advised a US company on setting up business in the UK including sponsorship licence application and employment contracts for UK staff. Subsequently advising on restrictive covenants, breach of confidentiality and data protection issues on termination.
Advising on and implementing retirement policies, family friendly policies and contentious terminations for a Middle East airline company.
